The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.

The bar chart illustrates the responses to habits of buying and drinking coffee and tea in different urban areas in Australia. Overall, people in all of the cities were likely to use coffee and tea at coffee houses rather than take away.

For buying fresh coffee, while the proportion of residents in Brisbane and Adelaide accounted for the least with under 35 percent, that in Sydney and Melbourne occupied the most at under 45 percent. Just under 40 percent of people in Hobart bought fresh coffee in the last 4 weeks. For the instant coffee, the percentage of residents in Adelaide made up about a half. While over half of people in Brisbane and Hobart took away, these figures were just above 40 percent in Sydney and Melbourne.

The vast majority of going to the cafe was over 60 percent for residents in Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart; in which the proportion of Melbourne and Hobart occupied nearly 65 percent. The figure of Brisbane was around 55 percent. Finally, there was a balance between taking instant coffee and going to the cafe in Adelaide at roughly a half.
