Q: Can you describe to me the room where you sleep?
A: Like a paradise, my bedroom where I sleep every night is great! It’s not a big room but I feel free, warm and comfortable for relaxing after a tiring day at school. There are many lovely natural pictures and my family’s photos on the wall. I can do everything in my private room, so I really like it the most.
Q: How much sleep do you need every night?
A: Most of us know that getting a good night’s sleep is important. For me, I often spend 7 to 8 hours per day for sleep. However, I think to improve the sleep, we should do exercise and avoid caffeine before bedtime.
Q: Do you like to sleep during the day? (Why/Why not?)
A: No. Actually, I think we should sleep enough instead of sleep too much. With enough sleep, I can feel fresh as well as energetic during a day. Therefore, my working effectivity will be improved.
Topic 1: Fashion
Q: Are you a fashionable person?
A: Personally, I prefer to buy casual clothes. I don’t think modern fashion trends are so important that we should pay much attention to it. I don’t take pride in my appearance. For me, I often wear a T-shirt and jeans for simplicity as long as that feel convenient and comfortable.
Q: What clothing fashions are popular in your country?
A: Well, I think it depends on the season. I live in a tropical country, so people here usually wear clothes with light fabrics. In summer, we often choose light-colored clothes so that we avoid the environment heat. However, in winter, the weather is usually freezing cold, so a thick coat or sweater could be the best choice.
Q: Do you think that the fashion industry involves too much money for what it is?
A: People place too much importance on appearance. Therefore, the fashion industry designs beautiful clothes and thanks to that a person can wear shirts, trousers or any accessories which are in today’s fashion. However, the costs of fashion items are so high, I think the money should be better spent on more pressing issues, such as poverty and hunger.
Q: Can people be fashionable without spending too much money?
A: Maybe yes. I suppose the most important thing is that you have an eye for what looks good instead of the cost of clothes. The knowledge of fashion could help you mix and match different clothing items that suit you. Additionally, there are many nice clothes on sale that can also look very good. Therefore, we can become a fashionable person without spending too much money.
Topic 2: Mobile phones
Q: When did you get your first mobile phone?
A: I got my first cell phone when I was a first-year student. After I completed high school, my parents gifted me a new mobile phone on my eighteenth birthday. I still remember it was a Nokia phone which is the newest model. Since that, mobile phones have become an indispensable part of my life.
Q: Do you feel that they are too common in today’s society?
A: Yes, most people in my country have mobiles phone. The smartphones have become very affordable and the government is doing a lot to make the Internet access available through cellphones to even the remotest parts of Vietnam. People use cellphones for various purposes, like paying bills, making train/bus/air reservations, booking movie tickets, social networking, entertainment by playing games, watching movies/TV shows, and so on.
Q: Where would be good places to ban the use of mobile phones?
A: Cellphones can cause problems for others. For example, when people use their cellphones in places like libraries, hospitals, classrooms, so on, it leads to a lot of disturbance. These days it is very common to find people talking loudly in buses, trains, and other public places, which is also a cause of the disturbance.
Q: How can we stop young people using their mobile phones so much?
A: This is becoming an increasingly big problem for everyone. This includes not just the youth but also parents and now also the grandparents. They have become slaves of there phones. There are some ways to control it. For example, we can uninstall useless apps that you think suck up your time. You may add workout sessions early in the morning, maybe doing meditation or just listening to music and take a morning walk. Your start of the day should be productive and should feel good.
SECTION 2
Describe an advertisement that is particularly memorable for you.
You should say:
what this advertisement is for
when you saw it
what is in the advertisement
and explain why this advertisement is so memorable for you.
I’m going to talk about an advertisement for Pepsi, which is one of the biggest brands in the world. I’ve seen it advertised everywhere, on posters or TV commercials. But the moment I remember it the most is displayed on youtube 1 year ago.
The advert shows a video of Cristiano Ronaldo who is the world’s best player with football tricks and he is also the celebrity I idolize the most. I think the aim is to target teenagers as well as a numerous big fan of the Portuguese football superstar and associate the brand with the World Cup held in Qatar in 2022.
The advert is interesting because the company is deliberately trying to influence and attract more people in the world. The marketers are also trying to capture young customers. They are presenting the drink as a common product for the World Cup. However, the best thing the Pepsi company makes me proud is that a part of the income will perform some kind of charity in Africa.
