9. Are you
happy with my present job? Why/why not?
Well, I am
very satisfied with my present job. My present job is a teacher. As you know,
teaching is the most creative profession and helps to train good citizens for
the country and makes them the pillars of the nation. After being graduated, I
work for my department of physics in which I used to study at university. I am
so lucky and I never consider quitting this present job, I think. All I think I
should do now is learn English and improve knowledge of physics deeply so that
I could study abroad.
10. You are
to decide where you would like to go on a week’s holiday. Be ready to tell your
interviews.
Well, every
year I always have a holiday to take my mind off my work. I think it will do my
health a lot of good. I am interested in cold weather, so maybe I will go to Da
Lat City next summer. I was born in Nha Trang which is bounded by Da Lat in the
west, so I can ride my motorbike to get there. I don’t have to worry about
food, transport and accommodation because I have many friends in there who can
help me very much. I will bring a camera and shoot all the beautiful scenery on
the way. Of course, I will bring a lot of warm clothes because the weather is
very cold there.
11. More
and more people are turning to drugs. Why is this so and what can be done about
the problem.
Well, it is
a serious problem in our society now. More and more people are turning to
drugs, especially the young people, although using drugs obviously have a
negative effect on their life. This problem can be caused by a lot of elements
from various sources. The young people have a tendency to have an interest in
something new, stimulating and unknown to them. However, only with one try,
they can become addicted to drugs and the more they consume, the greater demand
they have for them. In addition, the young people can be coaxed by other people
or even by their friends. So what can be done about this problem? We try to
rehabilitate the addicts and make enough effort to educate the young ones so
that they do not become addicts.
12. What
are the qualities of a perfect teacher?
Well, I
think there are four the essential qualities of a perfect teacher: knowledge,
communication skills, interest and respect for student. I believe that a good teacher
has to be able to teach students how to become independent learners. If
students feel responsible for their own learning, then learning and improvement
won’t end when students leave the classroom. It’s a nice feeling if students
like to come to class because they like their teacher, but it’s even better if
they like to come for the sake of learning. Finally, a perfect teacher can
bring the knowledge to students, as well as give students inspiration for
subject.
13. Young
people sometimes complain that they have little to do in their spare time. What
is your view?
Well, I
think it is an interesting question. As a young people, I never have too little
to do. Otherwise, I find that I have too little time to accomplish what I set
out to do each day. I wish a day could have more twenty four hour so that I
have more to do in my free time. In the morning, I get up early, then I work
for my school all day. I also provide home tutorial services to children and
students. As a tutor, I can earn some money to finance my accommodation and
help my family. In my free time, I often play football with my friends, but
only weekend. And I also spend about one hour for reading every day. When I am
busy, I sometimes envy young people who have too little to do. Having too
little to do is not all that bad. You know, Isaac Newton had nothing to do and
was resting under a tree when an apple dropped on his head and he discovered
gravity law. I hope I would be a second Newton. Just kidding!
14. Imagine
that someone has visited your home. Describe what you showed him (or her) to
introduce him/her to everyday life in your area.
Well, if
someone visit my home, they will be certainly received my warm welcome. My
house is in center Nha Trang City, so it is quite small. Firstly, I will
introduce my family members to him. Then I will take him to go along the beach
because I and my mother often walk along the beach for doing morning exercise.
My mother cooks breakfast very well and fast, I am sure that he will be enjoyed
the most delicious breakfast. After having a breakfast, I will introduce him to
my room. My room is quite dirty but it has many books to read as well as has a
computer to play games, I think he also likes to play games. Finally, I will
take him to travel all beautiful places in Nha Trang, especially drinking a cup
of coffee and contemplating the sea at night are wonderful.
15. Talk
about the one book and/or newspaper/movie/magazine you like best.
Well, the
book I like best is A Brief History of Time (subtitled "From the Big Bang
to Black Holes") is a popular-science book written by British physicist
Stephen Hawking. This book attempts to explain a range of subjects in
cosmology, including the big bang, black holes and light cones, to the non-specialist
reader. He wrote the modern classic A Brief History of Time to help
non-scientists understand fundamental questions of physics and our existence:
where did the universe come from? How and why did it begin? Will it come to an
end, and if so, how? This book has 12 chapters, such as Our Picture of the
Universe, Space and Time, The Expanding Universe,… Its main goal is to give an
overview of the subject, but unusual for a popular science book, it also
attempts to explain some complex mathematics. So this book is a must read for
anyone who has crossed the boundary of general inquisitiveness at sometimes in
their life to seek for the future journey to the world of knowledge.
16. Your
memories of your school and/or college days. Be ready to tell your interviews.
Well, I’m
talking about my primary school, which is located in Nha Trang City. It takes about
10 minutes from my home to school. I still remember the first day I go to
school, I was picked up by my mom. Unfortunately, my bike was broken down on
the way to school. I was cried like a kid because I would be late on the first
day I go to school. Then, my mom discussed to my teacher and I was received a
warm welcome from everybody in class, surprisingly. Since I started to study, I
liked school, class, friends and teacher, I didn’t feel alone as before. I had
many friends who always help me whenever I need them. However, only one thing
which I dislike in my school is doing too much homework, I think we should be
played and relaxed when we was in primary school, so we will grow up better and
naturally. My memory about teachers in that school is unclear now but I still
remember my third grade teacher. She always wore Ao Dai – traditional dress
when she was in her class. Wow, she was very beautiful! She is very kind and
willing to help all her students, she was like our second mother. I believe
that teacher is the most creative job. It is not only educating the knowledge
but also the behaviors. Therefore, I want to be a good teacher as what my
teachers done.
17. Tell your country where you live.
I was born in Ho Chi Minh City which is the biggest city in the south of Vietnam. Before 1975, it commonly named Saigon that explains why it is the second name where I live.
Saigon is not only beautiful but also one of the most modern cities in my country. As a result, the life pace here is quite dynamic and fast as well. Besides, there are a lot of entertainment places serving relaxing activities to tourists and local residents. Moreover, Saigon considers as an eating paradise with a numerous stalls or high quality of restaurants, so it is easy to find a place to eat or drink whenever. Actually, the best thing I love this city is that medical and educational system is extremely good with modern equipment and enthusiastic doctors and teachers.
The weather here is pretty unstable due to the fact that you could not predict how the weather is today and even it could be rain suddenly. Therefore, you always have to bring rain coat when you go out. Nowadays, the streets in the city are widened because of the increasing population causing traffic congestion on rush hour. However, the amount of smoke of cars or motorbikes released has been increasing significantly then this issue affects health people. Hopefully, the government would have a solution to solve this problem as soon as possible.
Although Saigon is a modern city, it also has ancient characteristics. As a famous destination in Vietnam, there are several places to visit such as Ben Thanh Market, War Museum, Nha Rong Port, etc… When you visit, these destinations could help you learn about the history of Saigon, especially the change here chronically. Perhaps there are many places more wonderful than Saigon, but Saigon is always in my heart.
